Hunter had pureed pumpkin the other night at Cory’s parents place (the first time she has been fed pureed food with a spoon by someone else), since we have been only practicing Baby-Led Weaning she grabbed the spoon and was determined to feed herself! Smarty pants!

BLW is one of the most amazing things I have witnessed with Hunter and am so excited that this is working out for us. Her hand / mouth  / eye coordination grows by the day, and I never expected that she would be feeding herself at 6 months old.

She is so adventurous with her foods and has loved everything from pumpkin, carrots, banana (oops, not great for constipation!), potato and broccoli. Can’t wait to get her into watermelon, avocado, cooked apple, pineapple and yogurt.

I understand how it freaks some people out, but it has only been amazing positives with Hunter completely in control of her food. It is setting herself up for a wide food palette, the ability to feed herself like a big girl and be involved with what she is consuming.

One Response to FOOD IS FUN.

So glad it is working out for you. We did a mixture of BLW and traditional mashed food and at almost 2 Lachie is an absolute champion eater. His favourite foods include olives, raw green beans and cannelini beans. He probably would have always been a good eater but I think that BLW had to help foster a positive attitude toward food.
